I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone eager to delve into the intricacies of Logic Pro, particularly as they pertain to the specific nuances of scoring for film.
Piorkowski offers tons of in depth information for Apple and logic users, including timecodes, beat mapping, and project planning/organization. I recommend for anyone looking to get a practical film scoring text to prepare for working with clients. This book will give the reader a headstart on understanding how to approach communication with non-musical clients in settings like spotting sessions.
In addition to technical methods, Piorkowski also takes the reader through scoring a commercial from scratch, explaining situations where technical choices and musical choices differ when choosing mood and style. Not only do I recommend this book to composers of any linear medium looking for an in-depth primer to get started working with clients, techniques and workflows covered in this book easily translate into other professional spheres like game audio and sound design.
